Your Audience Is Out There

It’s hard to define what a blog is because so many people, groups and organizations blog for so many different reasons—and do it so many different ways. Notice how in that sentence I used the word blog as a noun and a verb – even that’s demonstration of the sundry and subjective nature of the term.

For many individuals, the appeal of writing a blog is the power inherent in being able to write and produce highly personalized content, along with the ability to easily distribute that content. The atmospheric rise of consumer – or simply, people – produced content found online in blogs and in other type of media – videos, micro blogs and personal profiles– was inevitable as soon as the capability to disseminate such content easily and with little cost became possible.

No matter how obscure your subject matter is, with the web, and with the numerous ways content is and can be distributed – (democratized distribution) through other people, curation sites, and social media sites like Twitter and Tumblr – you are guaranteed an audience.

I know you have something to say. So say it. Write it. Blog it. Even if I’m not interested, I’m sure that connecting you with someone who is would take only a tweet.
